Boundary version
Considering that fields can change over time, SmartSoil supports multiple versions of a field boundary, each with its own validity period. The validity period of a boundary version starts on the date specified when this boundary is added to the field and continues until the validity period of the next boundary version added to the same field begins.
Each test linked to a field with multiple boundary versions will be associated with the version whose validity period contained the making of that test's penetrations. The boundary version is taken into account when creating a test by field.
A new boundary version can be added via import.
SmartSoil supports importing field boundaries from KML (Google) and Shapefile (ESRI) file formats.
Import a new boundary version for a field or update the current one:
- Select any item in the fields list.
- Click «
» on the toolbar. - Select the appropriate item from the drop-down list: «Add new version» for import or «Replace current version» for update.
Browse all imported versions for a boundary field: hover the mouse cursor over the field's row in the list and click 
in the «Actions» column.
